We are told that
there are over 5 million businesses trading in the UK at the moment and that
they pay the Insurance Companies some £12 billion in premiums. Unfortunately
the Insurance Industry has no collective marketing strategy and is so fragmented
and competitive that you, the customer, are left to your own devices when it
comes to selecting the insurance you need and a provider through which to arrange
it.
The purpose of
specialperils.com is to provide an insight into some of the workings
of Commercial Insurance, outline some useful guidance on managing your own risks
before paying out for unnecessary or expensive policies and to put you in touch
with the people who feel they may be best equipped to handle your business -
the professional Insurance Broker/Intermediary.
Anthony Hall,
Director and founder of Specialperils Ltd, has been involved in the
Insurance Industry since 1963. He is a Chartered Insurance Practitioner and
Registered Insurance Broker and in 1998 disposed of the last of his Insurance
Broking businesses which had previously enjoyed offices in Devon, Dorset and
Somerset. :- During that time he had served for two years as President of the
Local Chamber of Trade and Commerce. Therefore, not only has he had experience
in running his own business, but also an active insight into the management
of a diverse selection of other businesses.
Before moving to the West Country, Anthony joined the General Accident from
school and became their youngest Agency Inspector. He then moved into Broking
by managing a small group of offices in Surrey which he left 5 years later to
join the insurance subsidiary of the John Brown Group. There he became a Senior
Technical Manager, responsible for the insurance portfolios of some very large
national and international companies.
After conducting
various Insurance and Business related surveys in 1999 it became clear that
there was no immediate likelihood of an improvement in communications between
Insurance Providers and their most important customers - Business and Industry
- and so specialperils.com was born.
